We are a remote
scuba diving and snorkeling safari service running trips from La Ceiba and
Sambo Creek on the coast of Honduras to the Cayos Cochinos Marine
Park. Cayos Cochinos is a group of two small islands and 13
small coral islands located halfway between the Honduran mainland city of
La Ceiba and the Caribbean resort destinations of Roatan. PID offerings:
Day trips or multi-day packages for snorkelers, divers,
and explorers, snorkeling or dive gear and boat transportation from the
coast included.
PADI recreational and professional dive courses from
beginner to master scuba diver and dive master.
Three types of lodgings: (1) Newly constructed resort
style beach houses for resort type guests , lodgings only with meals from $59 to $30 including
meals, 24-hour electricity, hot water showers, full kitchen, canoes, beach front, bedroom fans,
from $42 to $13. With meals from $59 to $30. (2) Private waterfront cabins private bath. 3)
Free backpacker style lodgings shared bath.
Most of our customers are very experienced adventurous
travelers looking for a great value and good inexpensive diving or snorkeling in the world renowned exclusive marine park. On most days, you will not see another group of divers and it’s been four years since I have seen another dive groups under the water.
This is small group diving,never more than six divers in
a group or four in a course unless requested.
The Cayos Cochinos island chain is so picturesque that
the 'Survivor' television program for Italy and Spain films here every
year. Then one or two other programs per year film here as
well. The population of the island chain is about 450 people.

Deposits
|
|
The
first deposit determines where we dive and how our staff is distributed for
the date requested. We take a 40% deposits thru PayPal, but once you
are here in Honduras we only take cash. The nearest ATM is twenty
minutes and there is no place to get cash in Cayos. The other option
is to pay by PayPal in advance, then you won't have to worry about
traveling with a lot of cash; my PayPal account is AnthonyLMarquez@Hotmail.com.
If you send the payment as a friend to a friend then there are no fees,
otherwise you are responsible for the PayPal fees when you arrive.

Average
weather and sea conditions dictate that we leave Cayos on most days by 1PM,
sometime by 12 PM.

|
We
dive early when possible in Cayos especially on 3 dive days; sea conditions
can get rough later in the day
|
|
We
also dive early on day when the boat or guests must return to the coast.
|
|
If
you decide to skip dives, those dives may be lost if we are not able to
extend your stay at your expense to complete them.

Dives
in packages maybe refunded at $20 per dive, there are no refunds for
bonus dives.

What
time does the boat leave for Cayos Cochinos?
|

We
normally leave between 7:30 and 8:30 AM; however the first reservation may
make a scheduling request.

Can
I arrive on the morning ferry from Utila or Roatan?
|
|
On
most days this is not an issue, but it is best to arrive the evening before
so we can have an early start out to Cayos Cochinos. However if you are
staying overnight in Cayos it is much easier to arrange a later departure.

How
to get to the dive shop by taxi? Best call and make sure we will be
available in the office before traveling to the office, the taxi’s we
use are:

prices vary from La Ceiba to Sambo Creek from $10-$20, ask me for a taxi if
you need one. See the driving directions below. Here are the
taxi drivers that we use, their cell numbers and base prices for you to
pay. Please confirm the prices with the drivers before you enter the cab.

What
hotel should I stay in Sambo Creek?
|
|
The
dive shop is located inside the hotel Canadien, we recommend that you stay
here, other options that are a nicer are Villa and Villa Helens.

|
|
What
should I bring with me?
|
|
You
should bring some the basic things if you like; a flash light, something
warm to sleep in case it is cold, a towel and toiletries. The beach
houses have electric 24 hours; all the other lodgings have two hours of
electricity per night. There are places you can charge your electronic for
a small fee 50 cents or a dollar, maybe free during other times of the
day.

from La Ceiba to toward Trujillo.
Look
for signs for the hotel Canadien
When
you reach the village of Sambo Creek pass the entrance to Sambo Creek.
Drive
over the small bridge and make a left at the signs for the Hotel Canadien,
Villa Helens and Paradise found.
Follow
the signs until you are in front of the Hotel Canadien a large
white 40 room hotel.
Park
on the opposite side of the road and ask for me.

first day on the coast. Normally we spend the first day read the PADI
Advance Open Water book and doing knowledge reviews kind of like homework
assignments.

7AM and 9AM we take the boat to Cayos Cochinos for two days of diving.
First
day in Cayos we will do two or three adventure dives.
Second
day in Cayos we will do two or three adventure dives and return to the
coast.

Basic
schedule for AOW course for people who live in La Ceiba and for divers
diving alone:

The
normal PADI Advanced Open Water course is 3 days, 2 nights; includes
transport to Cayos Cochinos, marine park fee and lodging. Normally I
teach the course for people who live in La Ceiba by allowing them to
studying the course material during leisure time at home. Here are
the steps:
I
meet with you in La Ceiba, I give you PADI materials to study.
We
set a date to spend two days diving in Cayos Cochinos, I collect a deposit.
You
watch the video and complete the homework assignments on your own.
On
the day we choose between 7AM and 9AM we take the boat to Cayos Cochinos
