Our goal of responsible eco tourism practices is reflected in our use solar energy, that we collect rainwater for our needs on the cay, transport all of our trash off the cay and take an active role in cleaning what debris washes ashore in Cayos Cochinos. divemaster_internshipThere are many ways to design a PADI Divemaster program. The internship at Pirate Islands Divers is defined by our mantra "learn - protect - explore". Our goal is to collectively have the most fun and best diving experiences while sharing with you our love for diving in the most impressive marine environment in the Bay Islands of Honduras.

Our Divemaster program includes:

  • Resort Operations program, gain first hand experience working with resort divers
  • Instructor preparation program, gain first hand experience working with students
  • Resume preparation
  • Dive free for life offer
  • Discounted training rate on up to 5 PADI Specialty Diver courses

The minimum time periods we offer in our Divemaster internship program reflect our dedication to your development as a PADI Professional. For the most diving, best program, and fun adventure we recommend:

  • 8 weeks to go from Open Water Diver to Divemaster
  • 6 weeks to go from Advanced Diver to Divemaster
  • 4 weeks (minimum) to go from Rescue Diver to Divemaster

During the PADI Divemaster internship program we include accommodation on our private island, Cayos Largo Arriba in the Cayos Cochinos Marine Park. Rooms are shared between Divemaster interns; there are also shared cooking and bathroom facilities. We make daily trips to the mainland where you can buy groceries, sundries, etc.

Prerequisites

  • Have a good sense of humor
  • Have a love and respect for nature
  • Have a friendly outgoing attitude

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the dive shop, customer service, signing up divers and students
  • Tender the dive boats, assist with maintenance, diving preparation, and cleaning
  • Learn to run the compressor, fill – inspect – maintain tanks
  • Assist with certified divers and students
  • Assist with regular maintenance and tidying the Cay, dock and buildings
  • Help us BBQ and watch the sunset on the dock
  • Support the Cayos Cochinos Foundation rules and initiatives
  • Learn about the reef ecosystem and sustainable tourism
  • Dive a lot – we schedule up to 3 dives a day (including night dives)
  • Have fun
  • Explore
  • Map new dive sites (and help us come up with names for them)
  • Work on speaking Spanish
  • Spend time living on a private island in the Caribbean

We include; pick up when you arrive in La Ceiba, accommodation, and course fees from your level through to PADI Divemaster, unlimited diving, dive equipment use, and tons of fun!
